EAT LOCAL is our sustainable agricultural initiative designed to grow and support local food systems by connecting local farms, producers, and apprentices to the local restaurants, institutions, and people with a hunger for farm fresh food and goods. Through a variety of education, outreach and apprentice programs, we’re working to get good people to good food and ensure that our agrarian culture continues to be an integral part of the Lowcountry economy and way of life. Be sure and check out our Farm Fresh Food Guide for more information on local Farmers Markets, Community Supported Agriculture, Farm Directory, etc.
Farmer Education & Outreach
Growers Groups - The Grower's Group meetings bring together farmers, producers, apprentices, farm agencies, local representatives, and experts to tour farms, receive training, and network with each other.
Growing New Farmers
We're working hard with existing growers and producers to grow a new generation of Lowcountry farmers. We offer an Apprentice program, in which farm apprentices are matched with mentor farmers to receive hands-on training and formal classes.
Incubator Farm
Lowcountry Local First is partnering with Clemson University to develop an Incubator Farm that provides a low-risk incubation period for farmers interested in entering the market.
