Professional Bio
Jeff Plotner grew up on St. Simons Island, GA and graduated from Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC. He immediately moved to Charleston upon graduation and after careers in sales and finance, got the entrepreneurial bug. He was determined to start something in Charleston and made in Charleston and founded Brackish in 2012 with one of his best friends, Ben Ross, who had come up with the idea for a turkey feather bow tie when he was getting married in 2007. Jeff was the lucky recipient of one of Ben's ties and, like the determined businessman he is, saw an opportunity. Taking a leap of faith, the two friends spent many long nights and early mornings creating these pieces together and pitching their product to anyone who would listen. Since then, Brackish accessories have graced the red carpet on the likes of Blake Lively, Bill Murray, Cam Newton, Dales Earnhardt Jr and more. The company has also been featured in ESPN, Forbes, Garden & Gun, Southern Living and BRIDES Magazine, to name a few. The handcrafted nature of Brackish products and unprecedented technique of applying feathers have been regarded globally for its appeal to both outdoorsmen and fashion enthusiasts alike. Today, respectfully repurposing the beauty of nature continues to be the company's main goal, while always continuing to innovate. Brackish employs a team of 40+ people in their West Ashley headquarters and their products are found in over 350 specialty retailers, as well as Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Ave, and Neiman Marcus. We proudly tout “made in Charleston” as a differentiator in our industry but more importantly as a point of pride. Jeff lives in West Ashley with his wife, Courtney, and their three children.
