Creatives Collective

Category: Meetups

Are you a creative entrepreneur in the Lowcountry?

Musicians, dancers, visual artists, potters, poets, videographers, photographers, graphic designers, comedians — or anything in between — this space is for you.

Whether you’re just starting out or have been in business for years, this is a space to build relationships and strengthen the local creative economy.

Lowcountry Local First’s Creatives Collective is a monthly gathering designed to bring together creatives of all disciplines to network, connect, collaborate, and grow sustainable businesses.

A few times each year, we’ll also feature short presentations focused on practical business tools and resources to help creatives thrive.

We’ll provide light bites, beer, and wine — you bring your ideas, contact info to share, and creative energy.

Featured Presentation: Funding Your Work!

Presented by Katy Calloway, People in Partnership

Artists are often close to the communities they serve and the ideas that could actually move things forward. But too often, the funding world pushes creatives toward structures that don’t fit.
Fiscal sponsorship offers another way.
In this session, Katy will break down how you can access grants, accept tax-deductible donations, and bring community-centered, creative projects to life without starting and running a nonprofit. We’ll cover how it works, when it makes sense (and when it doesn’t), and what to watch out for.
If you’ve ever had an idea that sits somewhere between art, community, and impact, but weren’t sure how to fund it, this is for you.

About the Presenter
Katy Calloway is the founder of People in Partnership, a fiscal sponsorship organization designed to support people doing meaningful work in their communities, without asking them to become something they’re not. With a background in nonprofit strategy, governance, and philanthropy, and years of experience working alongside grassroots and established organizations alike, she brings both practical insight and deep respect for the work. Through PIP, Katy helps turn good ideas into real, sustainable efforts by providing the structure, guidance, and back-end support that make the work possible. She believes deeply that community change doesn’t require more nonprofits, it requires more people, working together, with the right support behind them.
RSVP now and be part of a community that’s invested in you.
