Cocktails/Mocktails & Conversation: Shape North Charleston's Future

Has a zoning rule ever stopped you and your small business from doing something you wanted to do — signage, hours, outdoor seating, parking, home-based work, a second location?
Have you ever had to request a variance, special use permit, or conditional use permit for your business?
Has zoning ever made your home-based or online business feel legally invisible or technically non-compliant even though you're not causing any actual problem?
Has mixed-use zoning (or the lack of it) affected your foot traffic, your ability to add housing above your shop, or your neighbors' ability to walk to you?
Join fellow small, local business owners and leaders for a casual evening gathering at Wit's End Comedy Lounge to learn about the City of North Charleston's Unified Development Ordinance — a critical effort to rewrite the rules that guide how the city grows – shaping not only its neighborhoods and commercial corridors, but also its streets, sidewalks, and public spaces.
Local business owners are invited to hear directly about what this effort entails, ask questions, and share their perspectives on how these zoning and planning policies will affect you as local business owners.
Local comedy production duo Nameless Numberhead will kick off the event. Light bites will be provided thanks to Drizzled Pear Catering. Cash bar will be available.
Free and open to all. Capacity is limited to the first 70 registrants. Parking is available on-site (parking map to be provided to registrants before event date).
Tuesday, September 1
5:30 - 7 p.m.
