Lowcountry Local First Launches Localist Card to Strengthen Local Economy
Lowcountry Local First (LLF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating an economy anchored in local ownership, is proud to announce the launch of the Localist Card program, a unique way for residents to support both locally owned businesses and the nonprofit’s mission.
By purchasing a Localist Card, citizens and visitors gain access to dozens of exclusive perks at local shops, restaurants, and service providers. The 2026 cards are available now for pre-sale for only $25 and will be honored at participating local businesses for 14 months, November 1, 2025 through December 31, 2026.
"The Localist Card is designed to promote year-round local spending, drive consistent support to small businesses, and strengthen the relationships that make the Lowcountry so special," says Jacquie Berger, Executive Director of Lowcountry Local First. "Every time you use your card, you’re putting your dollars where your heart is – supporting local businesses, preserving the character of our region, and building a more resilient local economy."
Localist Cards are available for purchase individually or in bulk online at lowcountrylocalfirst.org/
The latest list of deals from participating businesses is continually updated in an easy-to-access Localist Card Directory. More than 35 local businesses are currently signed up to participate in the program, and Lowcountry Local First is continually adding new businesses to the program with the goal of 50+ businesses signed up to participate before the end of 2025. Businesses currently in the program include Holy City Brewing, Monster Music & Movies, Blue Bicycle Books, Odd Duck Market, Orange Spot Coffee, Cane Pazzo, Ted’s Butcherblock, and many more.
Businesses interested in participating must be members of Lowcountry Local First. Proceeds from card sales directly support LLF’s work, including entrepreneur education, advocacy for local business, and initiatives that build a thriving, inclusive economy.
