From Big Idea to Market: Trey’s Kiva Success Story

Meet the Entrepreneur Behind the Product

With a background in advertising, marketing and business consulting, Trey has spent years helping other entrepreneurs launch their ideas. More than a decade ago, he recognized the potential in a concept for a portable lap tray and began developing it himself.

The result was the Trayster, a lightweight foam tray designed to securely hold food, drinks and personal items while someone is watching a game, relaxing at home or traveling.

Bringing the product to life required years of persistence. Trey worked to make the design thinner, sturdier and customizable.

Through his Kiva campaign, Trey successfully secured a $15,000 interest-free loan to support patent revisions, a trademark application, licensing fees, product liability insurance, marketing and the production of 500 Traysters.

The funding will also help him pursue licensing opportunities with the University of South Carolina and Clemson University, creating a path to reach college football fans and expand into larger retail markets.
